You should get this book new to ensure you get the corresponding files to use in DM. The classroom in a book series are excellent.

If you wanted to simply teach yourself, this book would be perfect. But they are college level texts, They are actually used as text books in the web design program at my college, and everyone is very impressed with them.

Clearly written, very easy to understand and follow along. They also provide free practice files you can download, to complete all exercises.

I’ve had to research two things so far. One wasn’t in the book sql database connection. One only offered a definition forms , and not an explanation or training.

I was hoping to read up on forms validation. Hopefully I’ll get a use of this thing. Better off using Dreamweaver help screens so far.

I am just starting out with this book. I really like the text. The steps are very clear and easy to follow. I bought the Kindle version.

There is a code inside the book that takes you to another digital version that is a web based, multimedia book. I can blow up the pictures as large as I want and easily follow the lesson. I take an hour a day to study. The technical writing is clear and easy to understand. The photos are bright and clear.

It is one of the best digital technical training books I have ever used. Have used Dreamweaver for many years. Updated to CC to try it out. Cancelled my Adobe subscription and staying with Dreamweaver 8. If new to web site construction, go with WordPress and save tons of money. The book’s binding is not adequate, the pages are separating at the book seams despite kind and gentle use. This book is intended as a sustained-use reference for a college course and should physically hold up better under the rigors of such use, especially for the price.

Accomplished What I Needed I rented this book for class. It was a nice study guide for the quizzes. The exercises were helpful, but I can safely say that coding and Dreamweaver are not my forte. I opted for a hard copy because it’s so much easier to flip through the pages and have it on the desk beside the computer whilst you work through the lessons.

I am almost a beginner in that I have been using Dreamweaver MX for years, but didn’t really write much of the code by hand. Dreamweaver CC is certainly very much more to take on board and if this book is anything to go by, you need a much better understanding of HTML! The first few chapters are necessarily a little basic and I was aching to get started on building a website.

Most of the instructions were easy enough to follow, although I’m not sure I paid a great deal of attention to ‘why’ I was doing things, so I need to dip back into the book and understand why the actions I took gave the results on screen. Having read early on in the book about responsive sites, I was anxious to get to that Chapter, but strangely enough it came as one of the ‘bonus’ chapters that are available from the publisher as downloadable PDFs.

In other words, the most important chapter was effectively part of an additional e-book and, as I only have one monitor, it was awkward to flip backwards and forwards to complete the exercises.

In summary, I’m pleased I bought the book because at least I have something I can physically hold and browse through, but I do wish the bonus chapters had been included as part of the hard copy! A hint for downloading the files at Peachpit – they ask you to find the first word of the first first step in part of the book as proof of purchase.. I wasted a lot of time looking for “Step 1”.

The step is defined by red print, not a label. If you have lots of time, perhaps this book is for you. I got through the first few chapters and gave up as it was not helping me develop a web page.

It just talked about options, not the process of developing a web page in Dreamweaver. I have gone back to it to search for options during my web page development.

But, usually did not find the information that I needed in developing my web page. I found the information over internet searches was much more informative and helpful. One person found this helpful. I’m about halfway through and I very much like this book. I will admit that the first three chapters can seem long and tedious; they involve long explanations and exercises that are either facile or, conversely, loaded with nuance that goes unexplained–for the time being only, though.

It’s difficult to go through so much information without having any real context. But it starts to gel with Chapter 4! If you’ve wanted to learn web design and you’re using Dreamweaver, you’ll find yourself unable to step away from the computer.

The verification question just has to be understood what is the third word in “Question 1” under the Heading of Setting interface preferences, so you look at question 1 under that heading, and find the third word its not hard.

Actually I found this to be very funny that a few people were stumped on this. This adobe classroom in a book is difficult to navigate visually. Nothing to do with the kindle aspect. Easy to follow.
